Zero Tolerance Policy

Commack Soccer has a ZERO TOLERANCE policy in regards to the conduct displayed towards our referees. This policy has been clearly explained to every coach during the Intramural Drafts which take place at the start of the Fall season. All our referees are to be treated respectfully by all coaches and parents. They are not to be yelled at or have their calls questioned. If there appears to be an issue with a referee, a coach should send someone to find the Board Member on duty to come over and observe the remainder of the game.

ANY COACH WHO VIOLATES THE ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY TOWARDS OUR REFEREES WILL BE SUBJECT TO DISMISSAL.

Build Out Line Rules In Effect

Note: Build out line rules are still relatively new.  None of our referees grew up with these rules as players just a few years ago.  Outside Commack, referees and clubs have been inconsistent in how these rules are applied. Our interpretation is clearly stated below and this is how referees will attempt to call the games with no exceptions. You must be patient with our referees as they get used to these changes. Their calls are final whether you agree with them or not.  As stated above, we have a ZERO TOLERANCE policy for behavior towards referees.

  • When the Goalkeeper has the ball, either during the play or from a goal kick, the opposing team must retreat behind the build out line.

  • Goalkeeper can play the ball right away or once the opposing team is behind the build out line. Goalkeeper can pass or throw/roll the ball to a teammate but they can not punt or drop kick the ball.

  • The opposing team must stay behind the build out line until the ball is touched again, then play resumes as normal.

  • If the opposition crosses the build out line prematurely, there will be a restart from the goalkeeper’s hands or a goal kick.
